About Us
From its founding in 1883 to this day, Huber remains family owned. Having built one of the largest privately held companies in America, the Huber family has much to be proud of—and see it as their responsibility to continue the profitable growth and success of the company in accordance with the Huber Principles.
As the company’s shareholders, members of the Huber family are actively involved and engaged in the business. It is their family name on the door and they want to ensure it is held in high regard wherever Huber operates. With this in mind, the Huber family has created a Family Mission statement that supportives the company’s culture and the Huber Principles.
The Family Mission
Honor our heritage and cultivate our future by fostering individual growth, building successful enterprises and making a positive impact on the world.
The Huber family also established its own Family Principles, which are outlined below. The Family Principles are closely aligned with the Huber Principles.
Family Principles
Unity: Be open, inclusive, connected, and constructive
Integrity: Be honest, respectful, trusting, and trustworthy
Responsibility: Be informed and involved; act with care and accountability
Commitment: Work hard, with realism and flexibility
Today, the Huber family consists of members representing the third generation through the sixth generation since the company’s founding. The Family Mission and Family Principles serve as a unifying force and guide for today’s generations—and for generations to come.
Senior leadership roles for Huber family members
Joseph Maria Huber founded the company that bears his name, and family members continue to hold important senior roles in the business today. Over the years, many family members have held positions in senior management and on the Board of Directors. Today, Huber family members continue to serve on the Huber Board, as well as on the Management Boards of Huber’s individual businesses.
A formal approach to Huber family governance
The Huber family has a governance structure in place that guides the role of family members within the
J.M. Huber Corporation. The overall governing body is the Huber Family Council. Its objective is to nurture relationships among members of the extended Huber family and advance the goals of the Family Mission and Family Principles. The Huber Family Council also serves as a vehicle to discuss important issues within the family, as well as between the family and the company. The Huber Family Council is led by the Family Council Board, which is comprised of elected Board members.
In addition to the Huber Family Council, there are several task forces and committees that address specific issues of importance to family members, including education, environmental stewardship and philanthropy.
The legacy which was started by Joseph Maria Huber remains to this day in the caring hands of his descendants.
