Whether remodeling a high-rise apartment, constructing commercial space or designing your dream home, Huber makes buildings better. From the roof to the walls to the subfloor and into the foundation, from the kitchen and bathroom to the backyard swimming pool, our engineered woods, ground calcium carbonate, ATH, hydrocolloids and other Huber materials add safety, strength and improve sustainability.

Huber’s impact on construction

A roof that protects you from the elements

A strong roof is a home’s first line of defense against the damage caused by extreme rain and wind. Featuring a continuous weather barrier, ZIP System® roof sheathing and tape from Huber Engineered Woods is the fast, easy way to fortify your roof against the storm.

For commercial buildings, makers of elastomeric roofing membranes benefit from the two-plus decades of experience found in every order of Micral® and SpaceRite® ATH halogen-free flame retardants and smoke suppressants by Huber Engineered Materials.

Walls that provide comfort and safety

ZIP System sheathing and tape is a one-of-a-kind structural wall system with a built-in energy-efficient barrier that keeps moisture out and reduces air leakage, while still allowing panels to properly dry. For added coziness, ZIP System® R-sheathing offers thermal management in addition to moisture and air management. This also makes it easier to meet the increasingly strict energy demands from codes and green building programs.

Within the walls you’ll find wires and cables made safer thanks to such halogen-free fire retardant additives as Vertex® ATH, Hydral® MDH, Zerogen® and Kemgard® molybdates from Huber Engineered Materials. Makers of quality thermoplastic pipes use Hubercarb® calcium carbonate.

Forming, flooring and foundations that are solid underfoot

The ingredients within concrete and how it is formed play an integral part in the quality of your construction, whether is it the building’s foundation, walkways, stairs or other features.

High brightness HuberCrete® calcium carbonate products from Huber Engineered Materials are designed to give your concrete better workability, green strength, appearance and smoothness—all while improving your project’s sustainability by reducing its CO2 footprint.

CP Kelco’s KELCO-CRETE® Diutan Gum makes self-compacting concrete, self-levelling mixes and underlayments, grouts and mortars easier for builders to work with.

Durable and reusable FormRite® concrete-forming board provides the engineered wood alternative to solid-sawn lumber used in such forming applications as sidewalks, slab-on-grade and curbing.

And for subflooring, count on the strength, stiffness and moisture resistance of Huber Engineered Woods’ AdvanTech® subfloor panels with the heavy-duty polyurethane bond of new AdvanTech™ subfloor adhesive and fasteners. The combination turns subfloors into a powerfully bonded, panel-to-joist assembly that is squeak-free.

Interiors that reflect your style

When it’s time to work on the interior, Hubercarb calcium carbonate reduces water demand, compound shrinkage and cracking, as well as the overall cost in joint compound applications.

With the drywall in place, count on Huber to make the paints and coatings better. Hubercarb and Geotex® calcium carbonates from Huber Engineered Materials are used as an extender, an agent to either reduce or enhance gloss, an anti-slip additive and/or to densify the product. CP Kelco’s KELZAN® Xanthan Gum is used in water-based undercoats, primers and sealers, and textured paints.

Hubercarb ground calcium carbonate is used in vinyl flooring as a weighting and whiting agent, stiffener and cost-reducer.

KELZAN Xanthan Gum is ideal for use in ceramic glazes. This product can also be used in the jet printing processes for carpet coloration to control the print definition and the penetration of paste into the pile.

Carpet backing made with Huber’s calcium carbonate products help the carpet lay flat once installed. For projects seeking “green” building credits (e.g., LEED® Program; National Green Building Standard™ Rating System; NSF/ANSI 140 and 332), ReCal® calcium carbonate is a high performing product that offers recycled content.

Kemgard® molybdate flame retardants and smoke suppressants make carpet backing and textiles safer.

Huber Engineered Materials also produces Granite Elite® textured pigments, Marble Elite® calcium carbonate and Onyx Elite® cultured onyx for the manufacturing of beautiful and contemporary cast polymer and solid surface sinks, tubs and counters.
