Doug Smith

Doug Smith joined J.M. Huber Corporation in May 2023 as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Huber Advanced Materials (HAM) business. In this role, Doug has been instrumental in re-aligning HAM’s Commercial & Innovation teams to focus on Market Applications and Market Segments in order to better leverage the organization’s core chemistry and expertise to deliver growth. Smith has been instrumental in accelerating and delivering on Strategic Initiatives across HAM with a strong focus on Continuous Improvement Initiatives to improve the footprint of HAM’s energy, carbon emissions and operating costs.  

Before joining Huber, Doug held numerous Vice President & General Manager roles at Imerys that supported several diverse materials and industries, including Polymers, Coatings, Filtration, Ceramics and Paper. He also held growing leadership roles within DuPont and Ciba Geigy (BASF).   

He was Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board for the Industrial Minerals Association of North America and the Chairman of the Board of the International Diatomite Producers Association.  

Doug has a BS in Chemistry & Materials Science Engineering from Temple University and University of Pennsylvania.
