Huber’s sustainability strategy centers on a Triple Bottom Line approach that balances People, Planet & Profit considerations when making business decisions, and is embodied in the Huber Principle of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Sustainability. In keeping with this Principle, it is our goal to reduce Huber’s environmental footprint while growing our enterprise.

Responsible stewardship of the environment is a part of our legacy. We put environmental protection processes into place in the 1950s—long before such issues were even a concern for many companies. Over the years, we have developed a wide range of sustainable practices that help us do our part to protect and preserve the world’s natural resources for generations to come.

What Huber means to our planet

Lightening our footprint

We track and measure water usage, CO2 emissions, energy consumption and waste generated as part of our manufacturing processes. Huber uses these metrics to reduce our environmental footprint. Huber’s total use of energy from renewable sources already exceeds 30%—and we are committed to exploring initiatives to make further increases in sustainable energy use. Thanks to increased recycling and other reuse of waste, a growing number of our sites meet the criteria for zero-waste-to-landfill facilities.

Environmental excellence

Huber continues to develop, implement and improve upon a diverse set of protection processes across the organization. At the top of the list is our Environmental Management System, which we created to ensure that our global operations comply with all environmental laws and regulations.

Looking toward the future

Our family ownership has allowed us to take the long view on how we operate, including how we use natural resources, for 140 years. We’re committed to doing our part to protect the planet for the next 140 years—and beyond. Huber has taken big strides in reducing our emissions and energy and water usage, but we continue to set more aggressive goals for ourselves and our suppliers to reduce our impact even further.

Huber also continues to support the efforts of conservation groups through land donations, financial assistance and volunteer time, ensuring that large areas of forests and wetlands are left unspoiled for people to enjoy now and in the future.
